About Mên-an-Tol Designs
The Mên-an-Tol Designs story
Mên-an-Tol Designs was born from a love of the mystic and meaningful storytelling found in everyday objects and places. Inspired by heritage, nature and the subtle intricacies present in both the shared experience and personal memory. Every artwork and design has been carefully hand-crafted as something beautiful to be remembered and contemplated.
The Mên-an-Tol stones are a set of ancient granite standing stones that mark a liminal and sacred space to many within the deep south of Cornwall. The central stone - of which the origin is somewhat a mystery to this day, features a near perfect torus - it is said to traverse through this stone not only encourages fertility but the birth of creativity, and a transitional portal to new beginnings and ideas. Similar characteristic stones on a smaller scale are found throughout folklore, known as Hagstones, which are said to give a fleeting window into supernatural visions of the world which are not readily seen.
The Mên-an-Tol stones are at the heart of the ethos of what we are here to create; Meaning and a connection to history, family and memory where design and vision reaches much deeper than just aesthetic value. From concept to finished piece, care is taken that each artwork has intent not only to be beautiful but feel significant and meaningful too.
The artworks and gifts at Mên-an-Tol Designs are for those who are drawn to thoughtful detail, symbolism and Magick within everyday life, Magick that tells a rich story, to yourself or as a gift to share with others you love.
